I'm a member of the Canon digital photo forum, also known as Photography-on-the-net. POTN link here. I've done a couple technical writeups which may be helpful to those of you who wish to learn a bit about studio lighting.

The first writeup is for using colored gel filters on your studio strobes to accent the background and change the color. The writeup is here:

Flickr Pro account is up!

I upgraded my Flickr account to allow me to upload a ton of photos. Click Here to access the page. This is where you'll find any/every photo that I take which I feel necessary to upload. This page includes anything from my own personal / family photos, to random photos which I've selected to upload, etc.

***Client photos will remain entirely secure on this site, brimarphoto.com and will not be publicly visible without the password.

So I've been toying with the idea of some new studio strobes.

Aug 10, 2010:

One of my favorite aspects of photography is light control. I've been using two 200W strobes with umbrellas. I've got some pretty nice Creative Light umbrellas to complete the set. The only thing i desperately need is another light for background or hair lights. I found a pretty good set of lights made by Westcott, If i decide to get them I will have them this weekend.

The new lights I am considering come with soft boxes and barn doors. This will allow me to further control the light and get exactly the photos I want in the studio. I'm currently focusing a lot of my efforts on studio work. I anticipate a portfolio job for a college art student, and some product photography for a company in Rochester - Davinci Prototypes
